Privacy Policy

Last updated: 31 August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how One Uncle handles personal information collected through this website. We have written it in plain language so that you can see exactly what we collect, why we collect it, and what control you have over it.

1. Who we are

One Uncle is building an operating system for UK structural engineering firms. For the purposes of UK data protection law, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, One Uncle is the controller of the personal information collected through this website.

If you have any questions about this policy or about how we handle your information, you can reach us at office@oneuncle.com.

2. Information we collect

The One Uncle product is not yet generally available, so this website collects only a small amount of information. Specifically:

Waitlist sign-ups

  • Your email address, which you provide when you join the waitlist.

Contact enquiries

  • Your name, your email address, and the content of the message you send us.

Technical information collected with each submission

  • The date and time of your submission.
  • The IP address the submission was sent from.
  • The browser user agent string reported by your device.

Both forms include hidden anti-spam fields (a honeypot) and are subject to per-IP rate limiting. We process the IP address associated with a submission so that we can detect and block automated abuse.

Waitlist and contact submissions are stored in an append-only record. Duplicate waitlist sign-ups for the same email address are deduplicated, so joining the waitlist twice does not create a second entry.

We do not ask for, and this website does not knowingly collect, special category data such as health, biometric or political information. Please do not include such information in a contact message.

3. How we use your information

We use the information described above to:

  • Respond to enquiries you send us through the contact form.
  • Manage the waitlist and keep a record of who has asked to be notified.
  • Contact you about One Uncle, including launch announcements, early access, and product updates relevant to the waitlist you joined.
  • Detect, prevent and investigate spam, abuse and automated submissions.
  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot and secure this website.

We do not use your information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects, and we do not build advertising profiles about you.

4. Lawful bases for processing

Under the UK GDPR we must have a lawful basis for each use of your personal information. The bases we rely on are:

  • Consent. When you join the waitlist, you consent to us contacting you about One Uncle. You can withdraw that consent at any time, and withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of anything we did before you withdrew it.
  • Legitimate interests. We rely on our legitimate interests in running and securing our website when we process technical data such as IP addresses and user agent strings for abuse prevention and rate limiting, and when we handle and reply to the enquiries you choose to send us. We have considered your rights and freedoms and believe this processing is limited to what is reasonably necessary for those purposes.
  • Legal obligation. Where we are required to retain or disclose information in order to comply with the law.

5. How your information is shared

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

We do share it in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers acting on our behalf. We use third-party providers to host this website and its infrastructure. New waitlist sign-ups are also forwarded to a workflow-automation provider that we use to process sign-ups. These providers act as processors on our instructions and are permitted to use the information only to provide their service to us.
  • Professional advisers. Where necessary, to advisers such as lawyers or accountants who are bound by duties of confidentiality.
  • Legal and safety disclosures. Where we are required to disclose information by law, by a court order, or by a regulator, or where disclosure is necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public.
  • Business transfers. If One Uncle is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will take steps to ensure your information continues to be protected in line with this policy.

6. International transfers

Some of our service providers may store or process information outside the United Kingdom. Where personal information is transferred outside the UK, we take steps to ensure an appropriate level of protection, relying on UK adequacy regulations where they apply, or on appropriate safeguards such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, together with any additional measures required in the circumstances.

You may contact us at office@oneuncle.com for more information about the safeguards we use.

7. Data retention

We keep personal information only for as long as it remains relevant to the purpose it was collected for:

  • Waitlist entries are retained until our launch communications have concluded, or until you ask us to remove you, whichever happens first.
  • Contact enquiries are retained for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and to keep a reasonable record of our correspondence.
  • Technical data collected for abuse prevention is retained for no longer than is necessary for that purpose.

Where we are required to keep information for longer in order to meet a legal obligation or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims, we will retain it for that period and then delete it.

8. Your rights

Under the UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to rectify information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.
  • Ask us to restrict how we process your personal information in certain circumstances.
  • Object to processing that we carry out on the basis of legitimate interests, and object at any time to the use of your information for direct marketing.
  • Request portability of information you provided to us, in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw your consent at any time where we rely on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at office@oneuncle.com. We will respond within the time limits set by law, normally one month. We do not charge a fee for handling a request unless it is manifestly unfounded or excessive.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information or your request, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK supervisory authority for data protection, at https://ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to address your concerns first.

9. Cookies and tracking

This website does not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking technologies. It serves no advertising trackers, and third-party analytics scripts have been removed from this build of the site.

Any cookies or similar storage used are limited to what is necessary for the site to function correctly and securely, such as maintaining the integrity of form submissions and applying rate limits. If we introduce any non-essential cookies in future, we will ask for your consent first and update this policy.

10. Product integrations

The One Uncle product is not yet available. When it launches, it will offer optional integrations with services you already use, such as your email provider (for example Gmail or Outlook) and your accounting software (for example Xero or QuickBooks), so that project correspondence and financial records can be brought into a single project view.

Those integrations will only ever be connected by you, and business data such as email content and accounting records will only be accessed and processed where you have authorised the connection. You will be able to disconnect an integration at any time. Use of the product will be governed by separate product terms and a product privacy notice, which will be provided to you before you start using it. Nothing in this section describes processing that happens today through this website.

11. Children

This website and the One Uncle product are business services intended for professional use. They are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices, our services, or the law. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we will take reasonable steps to bring them to your attention, for example by notifying you at the email address you gave us.

13. Contact us

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, or if you would like to exercise any of your rights, contact us at office@oneuncle.com.
